Dear Vietnam Wall Experience Volunteers:
Happy New Year! As you may know, one of the new laws taking effect this year is setting aside March 30 as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. To celebrate this event, Dignity Memorial is bringing the traveling Vietnam Wall back to Southern California.
The Wall will be on display at Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary #FD970 in Whittier, Calif., March 23 through 30, 2010. As before, volunteers and name readers are needed to help make this program a success and to honor the more than 58,000 Americans who died or are missing in Vietnam. We estimate needing about 600 volunteers/name readers.
Because the Wall will be here a week this time, name reading will stop daily at midnight and begin at about 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and at 6:00 a.m. on weekends. Volunteers are needed to help look up names, act as docents, and read names in the evenings and on the weekend. In addition, community support in the form of donations and sponsorships are being sought to help support programs serving veterans throughout Los Angeles and surrounding counties.
If you would like to be part of this extraordinary event by volunteering, reading names or making a contribution, or if you know family or friends who might want to help this year, please contact me at (805) 341-7269, or via email at phyllis@corridorcomms.com.
Please help us spread the word to family, friends, students, and acquaintances by forwarding this email to all those in your address book whom you think might want to lend a hand.
Thank you,
Phyllis Grabot
