February 17, 2010 - Engineering week at Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin is again inviting a few selected youth to a private event at Lockheed Martin.  These scouts could potentially do activities such as: wind tunnel tour, sim tour, facilities tour (P791 potential option), Legacy Hall tour, and a variety of speakers and engineering activities.  Each youth must be a US citizen and registered with the Boy Scouts.

Any youth that were invited last year cannot participate this year, to ensure that new youth get to visit.

Only Webelos, Boy Scouts and Venturer Scouts may participate - youth from the 4th grade and up to 18 years old.

These scouts are being led by adults that are both Scouters and Lockheed employees.  Due to security measures, parents won't be allowed to attend the event.

The event is Wednesday, February 17th from 3pm until 7pm.

The following questions must be answered by each individual youth.  No group answers please.  The answers will be judged and determine who will make it onto the list.

Answers need to be submitted by January 29th at 5pm.

  1. What badges and awards are you working on, or have you worked on related to engineering and/or aerospace?
  2. What did you enjoy the best about the badges and awards you worked on?
  3. Why are you interested in aerospace engineering, engineering, and/or aerospace?
  4. What kind of grades do to you get in Math and Science? 
  5. What are your overall grades in school?
  6. Why should you be considered to attend this event over another youth?
  7. Do you have anything else you would like to say?
